9/21 to 9/27 What is supposed to happen

Mon: Taekwondo
Tue: 4 miles & evening appt
Wed: Taekwondo
Thur: Soccer & 4 miles
Fri: 5 miles
Sat: 20 miler at 8am / Soccer
Sun: REST!!!

This could be a tricky week schedule-wise. I may have to move the running up a day to accommodate the 20 miler (ie run on Mon & TKD, rest on Tue, run on Wed & Tkd, run Thur, rest Fri)

Need to sort this out...

Catch-up/clean up Post

It's been a long time since I've posted. I've written each blog post in my head as I run, it's just difficult to get them online.

So- my last post was Sep 4th. Man oh man.... I'll work my way back.

I've been sick the past week - and just not recovering like I usually do. No running Mon 9/14 to 9/20. I'm getting worried about it - next Sunday's 20 miler is going to be a long, tough, slog through the trails. I'm going to do the Running Fit 20 mile practice run for the Detroit Marathon. Misery loves company, plus it's a supported run, so I don't have to carry as much h20 & gu!

My last run was a 13-16 miler a week ago on Sunday (9/13). We went to the mall - Chris took the kids inside, and I ran - we planned to meet back for a late lunch. I ran around the mall, past the big house, up Main St to my favorite trails. The trails were beautiful, but really took a lot out of my legs. By the time I got off the trails, I knew I wasn't going to make the whole 19 miler in the allotted time. I figured I'd cut it a little short and do a double. (ie - run the remaining miles later in the day).

I didn't run on Saturday - Kid's Taekwondo tournament & a 2 1/2 hour ride home after. Didn't run on Friday 9/12 - LONG ride to the TKD tournament after school. Thursday 9/11 8 miler, saw 8 deer!! Frankie did the first 2 miles with me, I took him home and headed back out. It was a really nice run. The fawns are starting to lose their spots. Wed 9/10 Taekwondo, Tuesday, 5 miler, pretty uneventful as I recall?? Mon 9/10 Taekwondo cross training. Sunday 9/9 I ran the 12 mile loop around town. Is it just me, or is Sharon Hollow all up-hill into town??? I'll have to take a poll and find out. So far, the consensus is yes, that road is all up hill.

Aug 31 - Sep 6: What is Supposed to Happen

Well - with a super-quick recovery from my 18 miler on Sunday, let me tell you how much I'm looking forward to running this week! Here's the plan:

Mon: Taekwondo
Tue: 5 miles
Wed: Taekwondo
Thur: 8 miles
Fri: 5 miles
Sat: rest
Sun: 13 miles

The planned quick recovery didn't go so well. Breathing doesn't hurt because that only involves muscles above the waist. Anything that actually involves *moving* hurts (sitting, walking, etc.). Lots of motrin, ice and food, and on Tuesday I started feeling like a live - though completely exhausted - person. Monday's Taekwondo worked out some soreness (and Mr Darr's impossibly long push-ups created some new sore muscles...)

Tuesday's 5 miler got abbreviated to ~2 miles. Wed's tkd - just fine.

Thursday Abbie & I had TKD testing. The family didn't get home until 7:30, and everyone wanted dinner. I'm flexing my schedule again this week! Here's the new plan:

Thur: rest
Fri: 8 miles
Sat: 5 miles
Sun: 13 miles

That should work ;) School starts next week, along with soccer practice, and a week-end trip out of town.
